Phu Quoc the Pearl Island received the award “World’s leading natural island destination” for the second time
News
Surpassing many famous “giants” such as Antigua and Barbuda, Skye Island (Scotland), Dominica Republic, Reunion Island, Lofoten Islands (Norway), Zanzibar Archipelago (Tanzania), Phu Quoc Island has been honored for the second time as the “Top Natural Island Destination in the World” at the World Travel Awards 2023 – the prestigious tourism awards held in the United Arab Emirates.
Phu Quoc Island – “Pearl Island” Phu Quoc – the “Golden Forests and Silver Seas” Island of Vietnam
Phu Quoc Island, the largest island city in Vietnam, which was once a remote and desolate island, has now emerged as a globally sought-after beach destination. One of the luckiest things for Phu Quoc to achieve this success is its “golden forests and silver seas,” with nearly two-thirds of its area covered in pristine forests, a pleasant and cool climate year-round, long beaches, clear blue water, gentle waves,… all creating a symphony called “Phu Quoc Paradise Island.”
A Strong Transformation
In 2021, Phu Quoc Island officially became Vietnam’s first island city, marking a significant step in the development of coastal tourism and global expansion. Until now, Phu Quoc is still the hottest destination for both domestic and international tourists. In the first 9 months of 2023, Phu Quoc welcomed over 4.7 million visitors, accounting for over 60% of the total tourist arrivals in Kien Giang province, an increase of over 15% compared to the same period last year. Despite facing some difficulties amidst economic downturns, Phu Quoc is still striving to adjust, change, and improve service quality to meet new tourism trends.
Phu Quoc Island’s Big Win at the World Travel Awards 2023
For the second time, Phu Quoc Island was honored at the World Travel Awards 2023. Additionally, Vietnam was also recognized for the fourth time in the category of “Top World Heritage Destinations 2023”; Hanoi won in the category of “Top World City Tourism Destinations 2023”; Moc Chau was awarded as the “Top World Local Nature Destination”; Ha Nam received the prize for the “Top World Local Cultural Destination”; and Tam Dao was honored as the “Top World Local Town Destination.”
Furthermore, some Vietnamese travel companies and tourism entities also received prestigious awards: Vietravel won the award for the seventh consecutive time (since its first win in 2017) as the “Top World Tour Operator”; Sun World Fansipan Legend (Lao Cai) simultaneously received two important awards as the “Top World Natural Scenery Destination 2023” and the “Top World Cultural Destination,”… These achievements will motivate Rooty Trip to continue its efforts, contributing to the development of Phu Quoc coastal island tourism in particular and Vietnam in general, and further elevate Vietnam on the world tourism map.
