2. Famous pagodas in Phu Quoc?
2.1. Ho Quoc Pagoda
Ho Quoc Pagoda, also known as “Thien Vien Truc Lam Ho Quoc” (Truc Lam Ho Quoc Zen Monastery), is located within a 110-hectare spiritual tourism project. This pagoda was built to serve both the religious needs of the local people and the tourism industry of Kien Giang Province.
With funding of over 100 billion VND raised from philanthropists and businesses, Ho Quoc Pagoda features architecture that is somewhat different from other Truc Lam Zen Monasteries in Vietnam. It is constructed entirely from precious ironwood, which results in a lower height compared to other structures.
Nestled between majestic mountains and forests, visitors to Ho Quoc Pagoda will experience the peacefulness, serenity, and picturesque beauty of the site. Although it was only inaugurated recently (since 2012), the pagoda has already attracted many visitors from all over, who come to admire its charming and romantic scenery.
To reach Ho Quoc Pagoda, visitors can drive from Duong Dong Town towards Phu Quoc Prison. About 1 km before the turnoff to Bai Sao Beach, there is a small road on the left that leads to the pagoda. From the pagoda’s courtyard, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of the blue ocean right in front of them. In the center of the courtyard stands a finely crafted statue of the Buddha, carved from a single piece of jade.
