Phu Quoc Visa Exemption Policy

To further boost the island’s development, the government issued Decision No. 80/2013/QĐ-TTg, which outlines special policies for Phu Quoc. Under this decision, foreign travelers can enjoy visa-free entry, exit, and transit for up to 30 days when visiting the island.

This new visa policy also applies to foreign travelers transiting through any airport or seaport in Vietnam on their way to Phu Quoc. However, if visitors wish to travel beyond Phu Quoc to other destinations in Vietnam or stay for more than 30 days, they must apply for a Vietnam visa as per regulations.

Conditions for Phu Quoc visa exemption

Phu Quoc is one of Vietnam’s most attractive destinations, offering a 30-day visa exemption for international visitors. However, to qualify for this exemption, travelers must meet the following conditions:

  • A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
  • Direct entry into Phu Quoc via an international airport or seaport (land border crossings are not eligible).
  • Must be a citizen of a country that Vietnam grants visa exemptions (based on bilateral or unilateral agreements).
