Directions to Bamboo Cottage Phu Quoc

Bamboo Legend is about 17.5 km (20–25 minutes) from Duong Dong town by car or motorbike. There’s no direct public bus, so most visitors take a taxi, a private car, or ride a motorbike. If you take a taxi, agree on the fare or use a metered/app car before setting off.

By your own vehicle from Duong Dong: head east on Highway 30/4, turn left onto Tran Hung Dao Street, continue to the junction with Nguyen Trung Truc Street and turn right, then go straight for about 2 km — Grand World and Bamboo Legend will be on your left.

Bamboo Legend is built from roughly 32,000 bamboo poles – a record number – selected and assembled entirely by hand. Beneath the ~15 m structure lies a 700 m² reflection pond that acts like a mirror, doubling the landmark in the water for a striking, shimmering effect.

The whole thing is made from 4-5 year old Tam Vong bamboo, a strong, straight variety from southeastern Vietnam prized for its durability and bending strength. Remarkably, the structure uses no nails, screws or steel bolts: the poles are joined with long wooden dowels driven through the stems and lashed with a heavy-duty woven rope that can hold hundreds of kilograms.

To protect it, the bamboo is soaked in mud for about six months (which also makes it more flexible), then smoked for three weeks to dry it and remove odours – a natural treatment that acts like a “green steel” coating against termites.
